We work with school-age children and young people, aged 5 to 19 years, with the aim of ensuring they experience the very best health and wellbeing and can reach their full potential.
We are responsible for delivering the Healthy Child Programme and for supporting the individual needs of families, as needed.
This involves providing a wide range of care, advice and support including screening, health assessments, health promotion activities, health advice and much more. We also signpost children and young people to other appropriate services.
We can also provide support for parents, carers and education staff.
We offer confidential advice in a variety of settings, including homes, schools and community venues. We provide a lunchtime drop in at most high schools for young people.
A range of professionals make up the School Nursing Service. This includes specialist practitioners in public health school nursing, qualified staff nurses, school nursing assistants and healthcare support workers.
We also work in close partnership with a range of other professionals across Bury.
Our dedicated immunisation team deliver school aged immunisations to Bury school children this includes HPV, Diphtheria, tetanus and polio and Men ACWY vaccines. They also offer a catch up programme for the MMR vaccine.
