At your initial appointment, you’ll have a range of pre-consultation tests including recording your height, weight, blood pressure etc.
Your consultation will be with a clinician, specialist practitioner or specialist nurse which may be followed with an examination. A chaperone for this is available on request.
You may then require diagnostic tests such as a biopsy, X-ray, vascular ultrasound, electrocardiogram or blood test. These may be performed on the same day.
If you need to be referred to another service within the Northern Care Alliance, you’ll receive an appointment in the post.
During the current climate, please enter the hospital via the main entrance where one of our friendly team will direct you to the appropriate outpatients’ department.
The NHS has a target of 18 weeks between an initial referral from your GP to your first treatment. The Outpatients Department is often the first step in this process and your first contact with the hospital environment.
Our team will do all they can to ensure you receive the very best care.
