Into Healthcare programme

Pre-employment Into Healthcare

The Into Healthcare programme works in partnership with the Growth Company to support local residents who wish to gain employment in the NCA. It is designed for anyone over the age of 18 who is unemployed and wants to pursue a career in healthcare. You do not need any prior experience to enrol on this course, just have the passion and enthusiasm to work for the NHS.

The programme involves 18 days of face to face training, taught by a Clinical Tutor where you will develop you employability skills and gain knowledge and about the Heathcare sector.

If you successfully pass the classroom training, you will then start a 10 week work placement as a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant or Porter to gain experience and to pass the competency section of the Care Certificate Portfolio.  The Care certificate is a nationally recognised certificate in care which is accepted across the health and social care environment. If you complete the course, you will gain this great qualification to elevate your career!

The aim of the programme is to employ successful learners within the NCA. Over the past five years we have a high retention rate from the programme we believe this is due to the quality of the training and support the individual experience from the beginning of their journey with us. Truly growing our own staff to then go on and progress in their career with us.

Our Next Open Days

Feedback from Learners

I never thought in my dreams I could get a new career in the NHS from having no qualifications apart from hairdressing, but the pre-employment course is brilliant and I could never have done it without this. I really enjoyed all aspects of the course from the classroom to the practical interacting with different people I wouldn’t usually meet and I loved the placement as I was offered a paid job within 2 weeks of me starting my placement.

The five weeks theory part of the course were interesting and very informative. I learnt all about hospital policies and the role of the HCA. The way the course was delivered by Stacey was great as I learnt so much about the role I was about to undertake whilst also gaining a BTec level 1. After placement Stacey helped me with the application when I was applying for my job, provided a reference for me and helped me get shortlisted for interview. I was successful at interview and have been working in the NHS for 10 months now. I think the Pre – Employment programme is a great initiative and gives people the opportunity to develop new skills and come to work in the NHS.
